Music Theory
Music Theory is probably the least favourite subject among musicians - it is seen and perceived as being difficult and boring, and many feel it is not that important anyhow. Many young musicians did the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory in order to be able to proceed the Grade 6 on their instrument.
I have a tried and tested approach to teaching music theory which is based on music and listening and not on learning by rote. This approach has many advantages - it is based on sound and listening, so musicians (which is what you are) love it. It makes a connection between the 'theory' and the music so that the knowledge one acquires informs how you play and how you approach and prepare the music you perform. My approach will help tyou deepen your listening and you understanding and turn musical knowledge into something that is exciting and enticing.
Music Technology
I have been involved in Music Technology since the late 70's. I use computers and a wide variety of music software on a daily basis. If you want to learn how to these tools to create your music, I can teach you how.
Composition
I am primarily a Classical musician and most of my own compositional work is electronic and electro-acoustic. As an orchestral conductor I have performed a wide range of repertoire including a great deal of contemporary music. If you want to learn how to write a pop song, I'm probably not the right person for you. But - if you want to learn how to compose instrumental/electronic works for varying ensembles and groups, I can help you with that.
